Concerned about the great success of the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet executives realized that their compact sporty car, Corvair, would not be able to produce the Mustang in sales volume due to the design of the rear engine, as well as sales declined, partly due to poor advertising book of Ralph Nader, who is not safe at each speed. Therefore, it is presented as the Camaro has the same conventional rear-wheel drive, front-engine configuration as Mustang and Chevy II Nova.
