1960 Corvette seems to be the cars at 60s or Custom 70s. Front bumper were removed and filled. Side trim was removed, the front nose badge was removed. The rest of the car's exterior appears unchanged. Interior has an aftermarket tach, steering wheel and door panels. Painting is as old as the car was sitting in a garage since 1993. have nicks, scratches, chips, some cracks, ect. is presentable to be redesigned, I'm guessing it was last painted in 1984.

This seems to have been originally Corvette Blue Horizon (1 766), I have no idea what the current color is blue. This Corvette Options include: 3.70 position, 4-speed, dual-speed wipers with washers, a heater and a radio, courtesy lights. hardtop is MIA and the car now has only one roof. Seats and tables are removed for inspection pads, in excellent condition, they are the nicest unrestored seats I've ever seen in a C1. springs still wrapped cloth, rust-free frames.
Hood is dated 1984 and is usable as is, but it has some small areas spent on it. rear window is clear, it seems that it was top left to bottom, for many, many years. It seems that I was the first to put it since it was stored in 1993. Heater, windshield wipers, lights and all the work. Steering box and suspension seems tight. Frame is rust free and solid, which includes two rear plate and the area around the support arm 3.

Trans is a Borg Warner T10 with a hurst shifter. shifts well, clutch and transmission both seem well, works the emergency brake.

Original vin still attached to the column, windshield and door posts are not to be super nice rechromed, chrome and stainless are very nice original parts, door handles, taillights, ect are very nice original. Vette brakes on this work, but I do not trust them. I drove it around the yard and a short trip up and down the street without example, but the brakes of age makes me nervous. This is an excellent candidate for a mod project rest. more difficult to find all the pieces are here and in good condition. Or it could be a great lever input straight vette driver / fun shaft with a little tweaking here and there.

History of Plymouth Barracuda 1967-1974-legendary Muscle Car

1967 Plymouth Barracuda

The Barracuda finally became a true pony car in 1967. The Barracuda was redesigned in a wheelbase, newest and offered a choice of V8s, two V8s and a new 273 cid V8 383 cid. The Slant Six engine was officially dropped. Unfortunately, the engine 383 was so great that the power steering pump could not fit under the hood, so it was not available - resulting in poor handling. The original fastback model now joined by a notchback and a convertible model. The Formula S option package was still available and added a heavy suspension, tachometer, Wide-Oval tires, special trim and emblems.

1968 Plymouth Barracuda

The Barracuda received minor styling changes and greater availability of engines for 1968, with the reintroduction of the 225 Slant Six engine. The top of the line 383 also received a power boost. The 273 cid engines were retired. To give the Barracuda over a performance image, Plymouth quietly built a small number of Hemi powered Barracudas to give to professional drag racers, but these were so rare that they do not help the image of crabs is the Barracuda.

1969 Plymouth Barracuda

1969 was the year that Plymouth finally got serious about performance. They boosted the output of the 383 cc engine to 330 bhp and found room to fit power steering. Plymouth also introduced a cosmetic package built around the Formula S option, which they called Cuda. "The Cuda" could be had with a 275 bhp V8 of 340 or 383, but still not fast enough. Plymouth responded by filling in the triple carb 440 V8 under the hood, the biggest engine available in a pony car. Unfortunately, the larger engine required the elimination of steering again and was only available with an automatic transmission, rear axle as needed to be cushioned against the immense torque of 440. With 57% of car weight on top of the front wheels and the use of drum brakes all, suffered handling and braking.
1970 Plymouth Barracuda

Plymouth finally got the right angle performance for 1970, and were at full strength for him. The Barracuda was moved to the E-body platform, which it shared with the new Dodge Challenger. The Barracuda rode a wheelbase two inches shorter than the similar Dodge Challenger, despite its overall body dimensions were the same. The performance models were called 'Cudas and featured five different V8s, the 340, 383, 440, 440 +6, and the almighty 426 Hemi. The 440 and the Hemi cars received a special performance suspension to put high all that power to the road.

Barracudas came with a standard flat hood, while 'Cudas came with standard dual non-functional hood scoops. Cudas Optional in all "(and standard on Hemi) was very functional shaker scoop, so named because it linked directly to the engine, and poked up through a hole in the hood and, thus, "shake" whenever the engine did.

The Hemi cost $ 871 and was installed on just 652 hardtops (out of 17,242) and 14 convertibles (550) copies. It sported hydraulic lifters and it was easier to tune than in previous years. The 440 was a bargin at only 6 $ 250 and can track the Hemi up to 70 mph. Both engines were difficult to drive: the 440 six vacuum actuated front and rear carbs came with little warning, while the link Hemi throttle hard, sometimes snapped all eight barrels open at once.

Plymouth Barracuda 1970-1974-legendary Muscle Car

Plymouth also built a special model for 1970: the Plymouth AAR Cuda. AAR was taken from All-American Racers Dan Gurney, who ran 'Cudas in he Sports Car Club of America Trans-Am series race. But while Ford and Chevrolet built special models (Boss 302 Mustang and Camaro Z28) meant to mimic race cars, Plymouth built a street rod. Along with the similar Dodge Challenger T / A, AAR Cuda 'sported a unique 340 cid V8 with 3x2 carbs that pumped out 290 bhp. The exterior was definitely unique, with a matte black fiberglass hood lift-off, through body-side stripes strobe, tri-colored AAR shield, and standard black ducktail spoiler. The AAR 'Cuda also had special shocks and recambered rear springs which raised the rear end 1 3 / 4 inches on the regular 'Cuda which allowed clearance for exhaust pipes that came out in front of the rear wheelwell (after routing through the standard muffler beneath the trunk). It also allowed the use of larger tires in the rear of a first uses the most rear tires of an automobile production.
1971 Plymouth Barracuda

The Plymouth Barracuda continued in 1971 with minor styling changes, including a segmented grille with twin headlamps, dummy front fender vents, and segmented taillights. A full range of engines were available and the performance models were once again called 'Cudas. The AAR Cuda 'was no longer available. To cope with emission laws becoming stricter, Plymouth was forced to detune some of their engines, resulting in a drop in power. Only 115 Hemi 'Cudas were sold and Plymouth decided to retire the Hemi engine before it had to be detuned to meet new emission standards. Therefore, the Hemi would end his reign as the most feared engine and possibly the most influential of the muscle car era.
1972 Plymouth Barracuda

1972 was a sad year for fans of performance as the powerful and the 383 Hemi engines were removed because they could not meet new emission standards. The remaining engines had to be detuned and now valued at net power numbers, which on the surface looked like a huge drop in power. Unfortunately, the top engine choice for the Barracuda was the 340 cid V8 convertible and was no longer available.

1973 Plymouth Barracuda

The six-cylinder engine was removed and the entry level model now had the 318 V8. Optional was the 340 V8 that came standard on the Cuda. "In the summer, the 340 was replaced by a new V8 360 cid, although performance has not improved.
1974 Plymouth Barracuda

1974 was the last year for the truth Barracudas, which continued with 318 and 360 engines. The Barracuda would never come back as a real performance vehicle.

Have you know What Muscle Car is?

According to the June 1967 issue of Road Test magazine, a "muscle car"is "exactly what the name implies. It is a product of the American auto industry by adhering to the philosophy of the hot rodder to have a small car and putting a BIG engine in him. The Muscle Car is Charles Atlas kicking sand in the face of weak 98 (73 kW) horsepower. However, opinions vary as to whether high-performance cars in full size, compact, and pony cars qualify as muscle cars [8].

Car Driver Mr. Ronnie Sox - Four Speed- Mopar Plymouth Race

Ronnie Sox competenty screwed the new 68 Sox & Martin Hemi Barracuda, It was an immediate winner 10 seconds that was getting faster and faster than the team changed their development forward. Recently, the core team for Chrysler's drag racing program, did clinics, S & M ran, and tested hard on their rare days off. It was an all-out effort in total war, designed to dominate in any theater. S & M clinical appearances were often scheduled the same weekend as one big event or a meet staged at points across the country. often the team brought different cars, such as its Road Runner one B-440 wedge block powered GTX, Hemi-powered, and a Hemi-powered Plymouth Super Bird with the NASCAR-style rear wing. Regardless of body style, any car trimmed in flat Sox & Martin colors carried by mail.

It is not only these cars excel in NHRA Super Stock Eliminator, they were also quick in match race trim. This phenomenon has grown from Chrysler, Ford, GM and dislike for disabled drivers running style and disqualifying break outs to go too fast. They preferred to get heads-up and basic run-Whatcha-brung rules. Interestingly, most of this was the first day back a Funny Car Match Race Mania and trails and so loved by fans.

The Hemi Barracudas and Darts were right at home in these events and the heads-up racing game. It was this popularity that led both NHRA and AHRA to offer heads-up racing Pro Stock, beginning with the winter both association serves 70. Bill Jenkins, always one of the toughest competitors S & M, had a breakthrough in the field, running numerous heads-up events and match races with a 2-4 Carbed, Tunnel-Rammed 427 Camaro running the slightest. He dominated the Pro Stock events in early 1970 and AHRA and NHRA races and the NHRA Gatornationals March. M & S caught up quickly and dominated the rest of the season. This run-scan table included a team win by Herb McCandless in Sox & Martin Plymouth Hemi Duster at Nationals. S & M won all other NHRA Pro Stock event this year.

They opened the '71 season where they left off in 1970, earning up to half of the year in 1971 when they lost in the NHRA Summernationals in Englishtown, New Jersey. The team of S & M does not outrun that race was great, but fell to an untimely flat tire as they were moving toward the starting line during eliminations.
